Multi-System Racking Project for Parr Lumber, Damascus OR
07/17/2026
Request / Problem
The Damascus location needed storage for nearly every product category the client carries: from dimensional lumber to boxed hardware to trim. That mix of long bulky stock, palletized goods, and upright-format materials meant no single rack system would cover it. The facility's Moderate Hazard / High-Piled Storage occupancy also required full structural engineering and permitting before installation.
Solution
Speedrack West designed and installed three racking systems, each matched to a specific product category: cantilever for long lumber, pallet rack for boxed hardware, and A-Frame/vertical storage for trim and sheet goods. Our structural engineer of record handled the calculations and permit drawings, engineered to Seismic Design Category D. The system passed final building inspection.

Process Overview
Understanding Requirements
The client needed one facility to store nearly its full inventory range: dimensional lumber, sheet goods, trim, hardware, and accessories. The Moderate Hazard / High-Piled Storage occupancy classification meant the project required full structural engineering and a building permit before installation could start.
Implementing the Solution Within the Budget and Schedule
Speedrack West designed three complementary systems: double-sided cantilever racking for long lumber, a mix of bolted and selective pallet rack for hardware, and custom A-Frame/vertical storage racking for trim and sheet products. Our structural engineer of record signed and sealed the calculations and permit drawings, engineered to Seismic Design Category D under the 2021 IBC and ASCE 7-16.

Outcomes and Continued Partnership
The completed system passed final building inspection; the inspector’s note: “Racking appears per plan.” The client now has one facility, one vendor, and one engineered system covering its full inventory range.
