Selective Pallet Rack and Cantilever Rack for ABC Supply, West Sacramento, CA
09/24/2026
Request / Problem
ABC Supply's West Sacramento branch had two different storage problems under one roof. Palletized building-material inventory needed selective pallet rack. Long materials, the kind that don't fit on a pallet, needed cantilever rack instead. That's not a one-system job, and it's usually not a one-vendor job either: a rack supplier, an installation crew, and a structural engineer for permitting typically come from three different places, with no one accountable for how the pieces fit together.
Solution
Speedrack West took on the combined scope as one job: plan the mixed pallet-rack and cantilever-rack layout, coordinate installation, obtain site-specific stamped structural engineering, and prepare the rack-permit package. One team carried the project instead of three vendors working past each other. The engineered plan covered 61 selective pallet-rack frames (12 ft high) with 208 beams and wire decks, and 18 single-sided cantilever uprights (16 ft high) with 144 arms — both systems engineered under one stamped structural package to Seismic Design Category D.

Process Overview
Two Storage Problems, One Plan
West Sacramento needed selective pallet rack for palletized product and single-sided cantilever rack for long building materials. Speedrack West planned both systems together instead of quoting them as two separate jobs.
The Order Changed at Release. Speedrack West Changed With It.
As the order was being released, ABC Supply narrowed the scope to the section on the other side of the demising wall and held off on the rest. They also asked about additional cantilever arms and pallet-rack beams and wire decks. Speedrack West quoted the additions and kept coordinating the project rather than treating the change as a new negotiation.
One Stamped Package Covers Both Systems
Speedrack West obtained a site-specific stamped structural drawing set covering both the pallet rack and the cantilever rack, engineered to Seismic Design Category D, the same seismic standard behind Speedrack West’s largest multi-system projects.

Still on the Job as the Layout Evolves
As the installed layout continued to change, Speedrack West kept revising the rack-permit materials and pursuing field verification to keep the drawings aligned with what’s actually on the branch floor; ongoing work, not a one-time delivery.
